Drumming workshops with Djembata are fun and informative events, suited to both adults and children, at which we teach participants the basics of West African drumming, culminating in a group performance.

The workshops concentrate on West African "polyrhythms", so called because they have a number of different parts that mesh together cohesively. Some of these parts are quite simple, others more complex. The whole is very special, encouraging group listening and "communication".

Drumming in a group requires a degree of cooperation and attention to the group as a whole, so our workshops can also provide an opportunity for your business, school, organisation or team to participate in a fun and informative team-building exercise.

No previous drumming experience is necessary and we can provide drums for up to 20 participants.

• Andy has been teaching hand drumming since 1996. He has a wealth of teaching experience, working with mainstream schools and colleges, with Powys Youth Service, in corporate development and team building for adults and children with special needs, adult mental health, personal development and of course one-to-one tuition. Andy also runs weekly workshops in Llanidloes and Newtown.
